Smoke vents

As experts in life safety, Netelect installs and maintains a range of AOV (automatic opening vents) and carbon monoxide alarms. Our professional expertise and scrupulous testing and attention to detail makes Netelect the number one company of choice when it comes to these critical life-saving devices.

AOVs (Automatic Opening Vent)

Vents are installed in commercial and residential complexes to ventilate escape and access routes keeping them free from deadly smoke and noxious fumes.

AOVs are activated via a smoke detector either connected directly to the smoke vent system or via an interfaced fire alarm system and can be monitored through a BMS. These systems can also be manually operated via the Fire Service’s controls.

It is a legal requirement to ensure regular maintenance of life safety systems; this is enforced under the Fire Safety order. BS7346-1 and BS5588-1 recommend that AOVs should be maintained on a six monthly basis to ensure correct operation.

Our services include:

  • Installation of AOVs and associated sensors
  • Maintenance, service and repair
  • 6 monthly scheduled preventative maintenance contracts
  • Inspection and testing, assessment and advice

On completion of a service / test a certificate is issued and any faults identified are recorded in the onsite logbook, work sheet and reported to the responsible person. Remedial action is recommended and we can provide an estimate for repairs.

Carbon-Monoxide Alarms

From the 1st October 2015, regulations require carbon monoxide alarms to be installed in rented residential accommodation, (both houses and flats), in rooms with a solid fuel appliance. Whilst gas is not a solid fuel it is recommended an alarm be installed in rooms where a gas appliance is installed. There are a selection of different types of alarm the most basic being battery operated but Netelect can provide a better quality device that can either be hardwired or wireless and that can be connected to a BMS if desired.
