Earthing and lightning protection systems require regular maintenance to ensure optimum performance, and it is a legal requirement in Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 that lightning protection testing is carried out in accordance with the relevant British Standard (which will be either BS 6651:1999 or BS EN 62305, depending upon when the system was installed).
Testing should be conducted at a maximum interval of 12 months but we recommend 11 months to allow time for any repairs to be made and to ultimately take account of seasonal variations in resistance or other characteristics of the system.
In addition to your test certificate, you will also receive a report on the condition of the system with our recommendations for repairs or upgrades were necessary to restore it to a compliant condition.
